DDSE Kata Rangmo while briefing the aims of the meeting urged the BEOs, CRCCs, BRCCs to come out with activities report on implementation of MDM in their respective blocks. He also called upon the members to work hard and put in constructive suggestions to make it a success in East Kameng.

According to BEO (MDM), A N Jha in his presentation on MDM stated, there are problems and issues in its implementation which is common in the entire state in the nature of non-receipt of fund for kitchen shed for schools established after 2007-08. A total of 68 schools are without kitchen sheds in East Kameng. Apart from this, there are lack of stores at block level, poor participation of community members, irregularity of teachers, lack of all weather roads in the district, non-availability of utensils for meal in schools which are generally supplied to schools once in 5 years.

However, there are also the areas for improvement which include construction of kitchen shed plus store through BADP or MLALAD, linkage with medical department for maintaining health of the children and PHED for water supply in the schools. Strict supervision and monitoring by local administrative officers, BEOs, CRCCs, BRCCs and PRI members, stationing of field functionaries at their posting place and active participation of community members like schools management committee (SINC) and PRI members were much needed, he added.

DC Sandeep Kr. Singh had arranged a video footage of the success stories of Akshaya Patra foundation on implementation of MDM in order to inculcate a sense of better understanding among the field functionaries for preparing perspective and vision to achieve success in its implementation. He said that education is the single most factor to improve the living standards of life and also explained how best we can ensure effective education by mitigation hunger of the children.

DC directed the BEOs, CRCCs, and BRCCs for random inspections and surprise visits to schools of their respective blocks and submit report about whether the children are actually getting MDM or not. If any of the school was found to have failed to serve MDM to children, MDM costs shall be recovered, he added.

He also said that BEOs shall be held responsible if any of the schools under their blocks were found to have not  serving MDM to children at the time of  his visit to schools. He gave a strong message to the field functionaries that the lethargic type of attitude and absenteeism of teachers shall not be tolerated where the students had to suffer for no fault of theirs.

The Headmaster in-charge of Boso Colony Middle School, Seppa to the surprise of the house informed that rice were directly distributed to the  children during rainy season for lack of kitchen shed.

ZPM Meyuk Cheda said that she had directed the PRI members for strong monitoring of MDM and called on the field functionaries of education department to perform their duties properly without giving room for complaints.

APCSD,  ACS condemn BJP leaders’ statement on incursion

ITANAGAR, Nov 13: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal (APCDS) vehemently condemned the repeated statements from BJP top leaders towards Arunachal Pradesh on the incursion of Chinese Army, this time Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar saying “Chinese incursion is not a serious issue”.

The statement from Union Defence Minister reveals how BJP think about our state, said APCSD. “It was always a deliberate propaganda of BJP to declare Arunachal Pradesh as a disputed territory and please Chinese Government,” it said.

Earlier, MoS for Home Affairs Kiren Rijjiju said that Chinese incursion is a natural phenomenon in Arunachal Pradesh. All this repeated statements from BJP top leaders while one holding the post of Defence and another Home Ministry is highly condemnable, the APCSD said. It demanded the BJP to come out with an apology to the people of the state for repeatedly hurting their sentiments.

Meanwhile, expressing resentment over the statement of Manohar Parrikar on the Chinese incursion inside Arunachal territory, Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) said the statement has hurt the sentiments of the people of Arunachal Pradesh including ACS members.

“For the last thirty years China has been issuing stapled visa to the citizen of Arunachal Pradesh just to show their claim over Arunachal Pradesh, indeed they are indulging in repeated intrusions and camping under the territory of India,” the ACS said.

Such a statement from a responsible person like Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is not welcome. It will provoke China to maintain their claim over Arunachal Pradesh, the ACS said.

Belief decreasing at an alarming rate

Dear Editor,

With reference to the article published on 20th May of 2014 in this daily titled 'Student Stipend Sanctioned' we would like to enquire to the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education that did the department really meant it.

We are pleased to let you know that there has been a big discrepancy in the processing of our enumeration. While some has received it already and most are still expecting it. We plead the authority concern to look into the matter. Out of nearly 60 students, only 20-25 students have received the amount. What about others? Why such partiality? For the last academic session only 20 students have received it. What happened to rest of our applications? Are there some build-up criteria which we did not meet? Please sort it out at the earliest as our belief on the Government, Department and officials concern is decreasing at an alarming rate. When all other students are busy renewing their forms, we are yet to receive our part for the last academic session which is a very condemnable act by the department and officials dealing with it. Every year we are facing such discrepancies.

The North-Eastern Hill University Federation of Arunachal Students' (NEHUFAS), Shillong demand for the early release of our stipend money. When enquired at the Head Office, Itanagar we came to know that there has been a huge error in distinguishing the students those who are currently pursuing masters degree in NEHU and have listed their names in B.A. list against their previous colleges which is an act of negligence by the official dealing it, when in the form every details are mentioned and filled-in clearly. And to make it more clear there are UG students too, not from the NEHU affiliated college but in the university itself, who are pursuing courses like B.Tech, B.A.LLB (Honours) which is four and five year term respectively. To our utter surprise, none of the law students' has received it. And to add more, does the concern official even sit before the computer set provided to him by the Government and check our complaints that we mail to dhearunachal@rediffmail.com.  Does it even exist? If yes then please go through it once again today itself and respond to our grievances.

We expect encouragement and co-operation from your side in building our future and this is mail is not to generate any problem against the respected department and its officials.

Yours,

Lobsang Tenzing Com

A tell tale saga

Dear Editor,

'Men in uniform's dadagiri' of 6th November was a tell tale saga. But perhaps non uniform wallahs too share the same trait as gory as it can be, if not more. It all depends on who's who. That particular namesake of a bridge indeed is a bottleneck though other stretches are not too far behind when it comes to congestion and overall motorability. It is aggravated recently when the line of sight ahead from the left side got disrupted by a new construction cropping up from nowhere. Right side too is a steep bend obstructed by a huge construction though it is not as close to the bridge as the tiny shed in the left bank.

Hope the authority concerned is not oblivious of the sudden outcrop of such disruptive structure so close to a bridge. Moreover, the department concerned should immediately replace it with a permanent bridge with adequate width as per norm for smooth flow of traffic.

People tend to use this circuitous narrow road if traffic is high in NH-52A. And we know high traffic in  township stretch of NH-52A is a rule rather than an exception, so this frequent diversion of heavy traffic from the main highway to this narrow lane road severely disrupt the routine commuters of this road. So, it needs immediate attention of those who are in the helm of affairs.

Yours,

John
